Momentum Group buys 70% of marine valve specialist Ceon

What's the deal? Momentum GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → , through its subsidiary Börjesson Pipe SystemsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (BPS), has agreed to acquire 70% of Ceon AB, a Swedish specialist in valves and actuators for the marine and industrial sectors. Ceon, based in Laholm, Sweden, with a subsidiary in Denmark, generates annual turnover of roughly US$5.68M and has seven employees.

Ceon will become a subsidiary of BPS, which sits within the Flow Technology business unit of Momentum Group's Infrastructure business area. The deal closes immediately.

Why now? Momentum Group has been expanding its Flow Technology division, which targets critical functions in industrial processes and infrastructure involving steam, gas, and water. Ceon's marine focus and specialist expertise fill a gap in BPS's existing portfolio.

"With its specialist expertise and offering primarily aimed at the marine sector, Ceon and BPS complement each other well, and we see several natural opportunities for collaboration going forward," said Christopher Edfeldt, BPS's chief executive officer.

Ceon was founded in its current form in 2015, but the business has deeper roots — co-founder Bengt-Olof Wesslén has more than 40 years of industry experience. The company has built a broad customer base through strong product knowledge and established supplier relationships.

What could go wrong? Momentum Group expects only a "marginal positive impact" on earnings per share this financial year, suggesting the deal's benefits will take time to materialise. Integrating a seven-person niche operator into a US$374.7M group also carries the usual risks around culture and autonomy — though Momentum Group's model of keeping acquired companies relatively independent may mitigate that.

The signal: The acquisition reflects continued consolidation in Nordic industrial infrastructure, where larger groups are snapping up small, specialised firms to build end-to-end capabilities in flow technology. Momentum Group, acting as a corporate investor across roughly 35 companies, follows a familiar Nordic roll-up playbook: buy niche leaders, keep them nimble, and cross-sell across the portfolio. With both BPS and Ceon classified as early-growth businesses on Dealroom, the combination suggests Momentum sees room to scale a still-maturing flow technology vertical — particularly in the marine segment, where stricter environmental regulations and ageing fleets are driving demand for specialist valve and actuator solutions.
