The company. Founded in 2019 by Dr. Jie Zhao — formerly an algorithm engineer on mass-production ADAS projects including the 2019 BMW 5 series — Boden AI runs a full toolchain for the autonomous-driving data loop: collection, cleaning, anonymisation of plates/faces, and intelligent annotation. Its cloud-based BASE annotation platform handles multi-sensor data with bounding boxes, semantic segmentation and key points; the company also operates its own ADAS calibration room and an ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance) evaluation system. The signal. Closing two successive rounds in quick succession signals strong investor appetite at a moment when Chinese deep-tech is still pulling in capital despite the broader venture slowdown. The data-annotation layer remains a contested pick-and-shovel category for autonomous driving — every major OEM and tier-1 needs labelled multi-sensor data at scale, but many are building it in-house. Boden's bet is that a calibrated, multi-tenant platform plus a move into unsupervised methods is a more defensible position than pure manual labelling.
