Founded by Perth-born Blaze O'Byrne, Byron automates manual workflows for certified public accountant (CPA) firms. It integrates with CPAs' existing systems, automatically rolling forward prior-year returns and work papers into current-year Excel workbooks, with each stage handled by a specialised AI agent.

Why now? O'Byrne says rapid advances in large language models over the past six months have made it possible to automate most of the business tax process — something legacy software couldn't handle. "Accountants don't have a demand problem, they have a capacity problem," he said. "Firms are dealing with unstructured documents, inconsistent client data, changing tax rules and review-heavy processes."
