Frame Security raises $50M to fight AI deepfakes with AI training

What's the deal? Frame Security, a New York/Tel Aviv-based startup, has launched publicly with $50M in funding led by Index Ventures, Team8, and Picture CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. The company's AI platform targets what it calls "human risk security" — training employees to resist AI-powered social engineering and deepfake attacks.

How it works: Frame's platform lets companies create AI-generated simulations based on how employees actually work — voice-cloned calls from the CEO, deepfake videos, or attacks referencing open positions and recent company events. "The world of poorly written phishing emails is pretty much gone," CEO Tal ShlomoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → told Fortune . "Attackers and adversaries now know your company very well and in detail."

Why now? Generative AI has made phishing and impersonation attacks faster, cheaper, and far more convincing. According to Gartner, 43% of cybersecurity leaders reported deepfake audio incidents in 2025, and 37% encountered deepfake video calls. Meanwhile, roughly 90% of data breaches still involve human error — despite nearly all organisations running some form of security training. The global security awareness training market is projected to exceed $10 billion by 2027.

Traction: Frame already has 20 to 30 customers, mostly large US enterprises, including AlphaSense and Louis Dreyfus CompanyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Customers are signing three-year contracts, with deals ranging from mid-five figures to mid-six figures.

What could go wrong? The security awareness training market is crowded, with established players like KnowBe4 already dominant. "If the only budget and solution we provide is in replacement of existing security awareness training, it's more of a tool than a platform," said Shardul Shah, partner at Index Ventures. Frame will need to prove its AI-driven, personalised approach meaningfully outperforms legacy tools in measurable breach reduction.

The signal: Frame's raise reflects a broader bet that the weakest link in cybersecurity — people — is finally getting serious investment. Founders Tal Shlomo and Sharon ShmueliDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → both come from Israel's elite cyber Unit 8200. Shlomo was one of Wiz's earliest employees, joining at 21 before its $32 billion acquisition by Google. Shmueli was CTO at Team8's venture platform at 25 and the first employee at BionicDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which CrowdStrike acquired.
