The company designs servers that combine quantum hardware with classical chips, targeting AI data centres. Its pitch: deliver more compute per watt than Nvidia's GPUs, making AI training, inference, and reasoning faster and cheaper.

The technology also remains unproven at data centre scale. Sygaldry is working with multiple quantum hardware types, but none has yet demonstrated a clear speed advantage over classical chips for AI workloads in production environments.

The signal: Sygaldry's raise reflects a broader investor bet that AI's infrastructure layer needs a fundamental rethink. As GPU costs and power consumption soar, capital is flowing toward alternative compute approaches — quantum included.
