Replit confirms $400M Series D at $9B valuation, launches Agent 4 to let anyone build software

What's the deal? Replit, the AI-powered software creation platform, has closed a $400 million Series D led by GeorgianDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, tripling its valuation to $9 billion in just six months. The round — first reported in January 2026 — is now confirmed.

The San Francisco-based company lets anyone — not just developers — build and deploy software applications using plain language. It now has more than 50 million users, with customers including Zillow, PayPal, AdobeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Atlassian. Users from over 85% of Fortune 500 companies are building on the platform.

Why now? Alongside the funding confirmation, Replit launched Agent 4, its most powerful AI agent to date, which combines design and code in a single environment and can run multiple tasks in parallel. The simultaneous product and funding announcement signals the company is shifting from AI-assisted coding to fully autonomous software creation.

The company is also riding strong commercial momentum: according to spend data from Ramp, Replit ranked among the fastest-growing software platforms as of March 2026. It is targeting $1 billion in annual revenue by end of year.

What could go wrong? The no-code and AI development market is crowded. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and a growing list of competitors are pushing toward similar territory, backed by deep-pocketed parents or substantial venture funding. Replit's broad consumer-to-enterprise positioning makes it harder to dominate any single segment decisively.

Scaling enterprise sales while continuing to serve millions of casual users is also a difficult balance. Enterprise customers require compliance, security, and support that can slow the product velocity that made Replit popular in the first place.

The signal: Replit's $9 billion valuation reflects a broader bet that software creation is about to expand far beyond professional developers. The "prompt-to-production" framing — turning a plain-language idea into a deployed application — is the next frontier after generative AI proved it could write code.

If that shift plays out, the total addressable market for development tools grows by an order of magnitude. With 50 million users and Fortune 500 penetration already in place, Replit has a meaningful head start in the race to own the platform layer where non-developers build.
