Robot Era hits $1.4B valuation after $137M strategic round with Samsung backing

What's the deal? Beijing-based humanoid robotics startup Robot Era has closed a 1 billion yuan ($137 million) strategic funding round, pushing its valuation above 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion). The round attracted a mix of international and domestic investors, with SamsungDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → among the notable backers.

The company has accumulated orders exceeding 500 million yuan, with roughly half from overseas. It is also working with SF Express to deploy what it describes as the world's first embodied AI customs inspection solution for cross-border cargo.

Why now? The raise follows a Series A+ round completed in November 2025 that brought in automotive and industrial partners to help scale production. The new strategic round adds global distribution muscle, with backers spanning telecom, semiconductor, and financial networks across Asia.

What could go wrong? The gap between lab performance and reliable mass deployment remains wide in humanoid robotics. Robot Era claims nine of the world's ten most valuable tech companies as clients — but turning that into consistent, profitable production at volume is a different challenge.

Heavy reliance on China's supply chain also creates exposure to geopolitical disruption, particularly as US-China technology tensions remain elevated.

The signal: China's humanoid robotics sector is entering a new phase — past early hardware demonstrations and into competition for commercial scale. International strategic capital, not just domestic state-backed money, is now flowing into Chinese robotics startups.

With several well-funded Chinese humanoid firms racing toward mass production, the next 18 months will likely determine which platforms become the infrastructure layer for industrial AI deployment — and which remain impressive prototypes
