The firm sees a rare window of opportunity in the UK, where academic leadership from the Oxford-Cambridge-London triangle has helped create one of the world’s densest clusters of quantum start-ups—second only to the US. Yet, according to Naudts, many of these companies struggle to secure capital at the critical early-growth stage. Firgun intends to fill that gap, deploying funding immediately from its London base while keeping a global investment outlook.
For Naudts, the mission is also personal. After leaving Culture Trip, he faced a misdiagnosis of ALS—an experience that solidified his belief in quantum technology’s potential to transform diagnostics, drug discovery, and high-stakes scientific computation. Both founders were early quantum backers, having invested in Quantinuum as far back as 2016, and they now see the field crossing a maturity threshold that could unlock breakthroughs across healthcare, energy, and security.
With fresh capital and a focused strategy, Firgun Ventures is positioning itself as a catalyst for Europe’s most promising quantum innovators—betting that the next wave of scientific and industrial advances will be powered not by classical computation, but by qubits.
