Veeam Drops $1.73B to Dominate AI Data Security with Securiti Acquisitio
Veeam Software, a leading data protection and ransomware recovery firm owned by Insight Partners, has agreed to acquire Securiti AI in a $1.73 billion cash and stock deal. The transaction — expected to close in the first week of December — adds a robust layer of AI-powered data security to Veeam’s core offerings. CEO Anand Eswaran confirmed that the acquisition is set to become accretive to profits by the second half of 2026.
The strategic move positions Veeam to tackle emerging AI-related data risks head-on. As enterprises increasingly adopt generative AI and autonomous agents, the need to protect sensitive information from being improperly accessed or misused has skyrocketed. By integrating Securiti’s Data Command Center — which gives real-time visibility into data access and usage — Veeam aims to offer a comprehensive solution to manage AI exposure and ensure enterprise-grade privacy and compliance.
Rehan Jalil, Securiti’s founder and former Symantec executive, will join Veeam as President of Security and AI. His vision is clear: "Enterprise AI isn’t viable without trusted data security." This acquisition signals Veeam’s ambition to become a one-stop platform for enterprise data governance, security, and AI resilience — especially as incidents involving model hallucination, unauthorized access, and model rollback risks continue to rise.
Founded in San Jose, Securiti was last valued at $575M in 2023 after a $75M raise involving Capital One Ventures and Citi Ventures. Veeam itself was acquired for $5B by Insight Partners in 2020 and reached a $15B valuation last year in a $2B secondary round backed by TPG, Temasek, and Neuberger Berman. With nearly 6,000 employees and rapidly evolving AI needs among its global clientele, Veeam’s bold move could reshape the enterprise AI infrastructure stack.
