Chiratae Ventures Raises $150M Fund for Deep Tech and Climate Bets

Chiratae Ventures, one of India’s longest-running venture firms, has announced the second close of its fifth fund at $150 million.

The capital will go toward early-stage investments in technology companies across fintech, health tech, consumer internet, and SaaS, while also expanding into deep tech and climate tech—areas increasingly seen as central to India’s next growth cycle.

Founded in 2006 as IDG Ventures India, the firm was the Indian arm of the global IDG VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Since then, it has established itself as a fixture of the Indian venture landscape, with more than 100 investments and eight unicorns in its portfolio.

Chiratae’s model is to enter at the seed or Series A stage, writing modest initial cheques and scaling up commitments as companies grow. This staged approach has allowed it to support founders over long cycles, building credibility in a market where many investors have struggled to maintain consistency through downturns.

The firm has also been notable for its ability to adapt. From early bets on consumer platforms to today’s focus on climate and deep tech, Chiratae has shifted its priorities in line with India’s evolving innovation agenda. The latest fund reflects that balance—sticking with proven sectors while also taking positions in areas likely to shape the country’s next decade of growth.
