AirTrunk secures record green loan to expand in Singapore

AirTrunk has become one of Asia-Pacific’s go-to names in hyperscale data centers — the massive facilities that keep cloud services and AI workloads running. Now, the Australian operator is doubling down on Singapore, securing a S$2.25 billion (US$1.75 billion) green loan to build its second campus in the city, AirTrunk SGP2. It’s the largest financing ever raised for a single data center project in Singapore, underscoring both the country’s importance as a digital hub and the pressure to expand responsibly.

The new facility, set in Loyang, will add more than 70 megawatts of capacity dedicated to cloud and AI applications. Designed with energy efficiency at its core, SGP2 will target a PUE of 1.20 and pursue Singapore’s highest sustainability certification, the BCA Green Mark Platinum. AirTrunk is also weaving environmental considerations into construction itself, using green steel and concrete to reduce embodied carbon, and channeling all loan margin incentives into a social impact fund.

The financing was arranged by Crédit Agricole, DBS, and ING, alongside a syndicate of 23 banks. Structured as a green loan with the option to transition into a sustainability-linked loan, the deal ties AirTrunk’s growth directly to its ESG performance. For the company, it’s more than just capital — it’s a vote of confidence that sustainable design and hyperscale performance can go hand-in-hand. For the region, it signals that the future of digital infrastructure will be measured not just in megawatts, but in carbon savings and community impact.
