Set to be built in Toulouse, the ~750 kg rover is designed to operate at the Moon’s south pole around 2030, combining autonomous navigation, a robotic arm, and the ability to survive multiple lunar nights through solar power and three onboard batteries. Capable of speeds up to 20 km/h, MONA LUNA is slated for delivery via an Ariane 6 rocket and ESA’s Argonaut lander.
The rover’s mission goes beyond exploration. By moving quickly, carrying heavy payloads, and enduring harsh lunar conditions, MONA LUNA aims to transform sporadic landings into repeatable logistics runs — a key enabler for building long-term infrastructure on the Moon.
