Truemeds Is Changing How Indians Buy Medicines

Founded in 2019 by Akshat NayyarDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Dr. Kunal WaniDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in Mumbai, Truemeds was created with a clear mission: to make access to medicines more affordable and efficient. The concept is simple yet transformative—offering clinically equivalent generic alternatives to branded drugs, helping patients save up to 70% on long-term treatments, especially for chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.

Unlike many e-pharmacies competing on ultra-fast delivery, Truemeds focuses on planned purchases. Its target audience is patients with monthly prescriptions who can prioritize price and quality over extreme urgency. This approach has attracted consumers nationwide, particularly in medium and small cities traditionally underserved by conventional pharmacies.

Today, the company operates 19 distribution centers across India, capable of fulfilling millions of orders each month. Over the next 12 months, it plans to expand this network to 50 centers, increasing logistical reach while investing in a new technology hub in Bengaluru. This hub will concentrate engineering and product talent, focusing on more personalized digital solutions and the application of artificial intelligence to product curation and supply chain optimization.

The push for this next phase came from its most recent funding round. In August 2025, Truemeds closed a Series C round of $85 million, including $65 million in primary capital and $20 million in secondary transactions. In addition to fueling geographic expansion, the funds will strengthen operations, enhance the digital experience, and kick-start pilot diagnostic services in the coming months.

With this round, Truemeds’ valuation surpassed $400 million (around US$387M), nearly quadrupling from its previous valuation of about $110 million two years ago. This leap reflects strong investor confidence in the company’s business model and growth potential.

By combining competitive pricing, technology, and a service model focused on predictable healthcare needs, Truemeds is redefining the medicine-buying experience in India. It shows that innovation in the pharmaceutical sector doesn’t have to be about speed alone—it can, above all, be about creating fairer, more sustainable access for millions of people.
