The company
Toadworx designs and manufactures tactical hardware for civilians and law enforcement, starting with night vision equipment. Its first product, the BATL (Bispectral Aiming Tactical Laser), combines visible and infrared aiming lasers with an infrared illuminator in an aluminium and steel housing rated IP67.
The company says the tactical market is split between low-quality imports and expensive military-grade equipment, which leaves room for reliable hardware at a civilian price. It uses CNC machining and 3D printing to iterate on designs quickly and keep production costs down.
Toadworx is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business in Wichita, Kansas, founded in 2026. It was supported by an ACCEL-KS innovation grant and a collaboration with Groover Labs, and won first place in Wichita State University's Shocker New Venture Competition in May 2026.
Co-founder Logan Schraeder previously worked at the US Department of Defense's Special Operations Command, Textron Aviation and the National Institute for Aviation Research, and co-founder Jed Heersche served in the United States Marine Corps; both studied at Wichita State University. Co-founder Blain Egan previously worked at Pizza Hut, Mid Continent Controls and Kice Industries.
