Bengaluru-based padho.ai is building a 24/7 AI tutor for Indian students in grades 6 to 12, covering Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology across CBSE, ICSE and State Board curricula, plus JEE and NEET prep. Rather than spitting out answers, it uses a Socratic dialogue method and an interactive visual notebook to diagnose knowledge gaps and rebuild conceptual foundations.
India's exam-prep market runs on expensive coaching that tier 2 and tier 3 students can rarely access, and the National Education Policy 2020 is pushing concept-based learning over rote memorisation. An AI mentor available in English and ten other Indian languages is a plausible way to close that gap.
The company says it was founded by IIT alumni and engineers who have worked at Flipkart and Uber, motivated by the difficulty students face getting timely, quality academic support.
The founding team pairs IIT academic grounding with product and scaling experience from Flipkart and Uber — useful for a consumer product that has to work reliably across devices and languages at India's scale.
