The company
Limosa Immunodiagnostics is commercialising ProliSpot, a method that measures immune responses by detecting cell division at single-cell resolution. The company says the assay needs smaller blood samples and returns results faster than methods such as ELISpot, which measure cytokine secretion.
ProliSpot is already sold as a Research Use Only assay through a partnership with Baseclick GmbH, which gives the company early revenue from immunology, vaccinology and oncology researchers. Its most advanced clinical application, a test for latent tuberculosis in people with weakened immune systems, has shown positive results in initial clinical studies, according to the company.
Limosa was founded in 2026 as a spin-off from the University of Groningen and signed an exclusive licensing agreement with the university in April 2026. It then secured an investment from Future Tech Ventures, supplemented by a grant.
Co-founders Geert van den Bogaart and Frans Bianchi both studied at the University of Groningen, the university that licensed ProliSpot to the company. Rinse de Boer and CEO Daphne Gengler are also named among the founders.
