About Yebhi

Yebhi.com, operated by Big Shoe Bazaar India Pvt Ltd., was an Indian e-commerce portal that evolved from a specialized online footwear store to a broad lifestyle and fashion marketplace. Founded in 2009 by Manmohan Agarwal, Danish Ahmed, Rajul Jain, and Nitin Agarwal, the company initially launched as BigShoeBazaar.com. The founding idea emerged when Danish Ahmed, whose family was in the footwear business, successfully sold surplus shoe stock online and recognized the potential for branded footwear e-commerce. Manmohan Agarwal brought experience from the retail sector, including a role as CEO at Vishal Retail, which informed the company's focus on softline goods like apparel and footwear.

The company operated primarily on an inventory-based model, managing its own warehousing and logistics to ensure timely delivery across India. Its business model centered on direct sourcing from brands or their authorized agents, which allowed it to offer a wide range of products including apparel, accessories, bags, and eventually electronics and home goods. Revenue was generated through the direct sale of these products to consumers online. Over its lifetime, Yebhi raised a total of $60.3 million over five funding rounds, with investments from prominent firms like Nexus Venture Partners, Catamaran Ventures, Fidelity Growth Partners India, and Qualcomm Ventures. A significant milestone was the acquisition of online jewelry retailer Stylishyou.in in 2012, which expanded its product portfolio.

Despite early success and significant funding, Yebhi faced intense competition and challenges in raising further capital. This led to several pivots; in 2014, the company shifted from a direct retail model to a coupon and affiliate model, aggregating products for other major e-commerce players like Flipkart and Myntra. However, the company ultimately ceased its original operations after struggling with financial difficulties. Several of the co-founders subsequently moved on to other ventures. The domain name curetrip.com, mentioned in the context of Yebhi, now belongs to CureTrip Germany, a medical tourism company connecting international patients with healthcare in Germany, seemingly unrelated to Yebhi's original business.
