Xigen

Xigen's core business centered on its proprietary technology platform, Xigen ICPT, which enabled the design and synthesis of metabolically stable, cell-penetrating peptides. This technology used proprietary carrier motifs to deliver therapeutic agents to specific intracellular targets, a mechanism intended to address diseases in inflammation, CNS, oncology, and virology. The company's business model involved leveraging this platform to develop its own drug candidates and forming strategic partnerships to commercialize them in specific therapeutic areas. A key collaboration was established with Auris Medical for the development and marketing of Xigen's peptides for inner ear disorders. Xigen's primary product candidate, XG-102, was a selective inhibitor of the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) pathway, a critical target in programmed cell death (apoptosis). XG-102 was advanced to Phase 3 clinical trials for treating post-cataract surgery inflammation and was also investigated for conditions like hearing loss and dry eye.
