Wefight

Wefight was a digital health company founded in Montpellier, France, in 2017 by Benoît Brouard and Pierre Nectoux. The firm ceased operations, entering into liquidation in December 2023. The founding of Wefight was inspired by Brouard's experiences as a hospital pharmacist, where he identified a need for accessible and reliable information for patients with chronic conditions. Brouard, who served as CEO, combined his healthcare background with Nectoux's technical expertise as CTO to create the company's core product. The company developed Vik, an AI-powered virtual companion designed to support patients with cancer and chronic diseases. Available as a mobile and web-based chatbot, Vik provided patients and their relatives with 24/7 answers to their questions, offering scientifically backed information to alleviate anxiety and isolation. The content for each condition-specific Vik application was co-created with patient advocacy groups, patients, and scientific committees to ensure relevance and accuracy. Vik's functionalities included educating patients about their diagnosis and treatment, helping them manage their condition, and providing reminders for medication adherence. The platform supported over 15 pathologies and was available in several countries, including the US, Canada, Brazil, and nations across Europe and the Middle East.

Wefight's business model targeted several stakeholders within the healthcare ecosystem. For patients, the Vik app was free to use. Revenue was generated through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, which utilized the platform for patient engagement and to gather real-world data. The company offered several solutions, including 'Vik Studies' to conduct tailored research, 'Vik PROM' to capture patient-reported outcome measures, and 'MedVik', a platform for healthcare professionals to monitor their patients remotely. This model allowed Wefight to provide pharmaceutical clients with anonymized real-world evidence to enhance patient care and support clinical trials.
