Walker & Company Brands
We make health and beauty simple for people of color
About Walker & Company Brands
Walker & Company Brands was established in 2013 by Tristan Walker with a clear mission: to simplify and improve the health and beauty experience for people of color. The company was born from Walker's personal frustration with the lack of suitable grooming products, particularly for shaving. He found that modern multi-blade razors caused razor bumps and irritation on his skin, a common issue for men with coarse or curly hair, and discovered that a classic single-blade razor was the solution. This insight became the foundation for the company's first flagship brand, Bevel.
Tristan Walker's journey to founding the company is a compelling narrative of recognizing and filling a significant market gap. After a brief period on Wall Street, he transitioned to the tech industry, gaining experience at Foursquare and as an entrepreneur-in-residence at the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. It was during his time in Silicon Valley that he developed the concept for a consumer packaged goods company focused on an underserved demographic. In December 2018, Procter & Gamble acquired Walker & Company Brands, though it continues to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary with Walker remaining as CEO, a move that made him the first Black CEO of a P&G subsidiary.
The company operates in the personal care market, serving consumers of color directly through its website and through major retail partners like Target and Sephora. The business model initially adopted a direct-to-consumer subscription service for its Bevel brand before expanding into traditional retail channels. Walker & Company's portfolio includes two main brands. Bevel offers a comprehensive range of grooming products for men, including a signature single-blade razor system, trimmers, and a full line of skin, hair, and body care items designed to reduce razor bumps and irritation. The second brand, FORM Beauty, is a prestige hair care collection for women, designed to work across various textured hair types.
