State-of-the-art сontent delivery platform and applications with cutting-edge features and business tools
About Vidmind
Vidmind, founded in 2011 and based in Tel Aviv, operated as a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider specializing in Over-the-Top (OTT) video management solutions. The company was established by Danny Peled and Ofer Herman. Peled, who previously founded the video company GooMe that created apps for broadcast providers like Vodafone and Orange, leveraged his experience to develop a comprehensive, hosted solution for TV services. In August 2014, Vidmind secured $30 million in a Series B funding round.
The firm's business model centered on offering an end-to-end, white-label solution that enabled clients such as content owners, TV broadcasters, mobile operators, and internet service providers to launch their own pay-TV services. This allowed new entrants to establish themselves as pay-TV operators with minimal upfront development costs. Revenue was generated through a 'pay-as-you-grow' monthly fee for each active user on the platform.
Vidmind's platform was a comprehensive package that included a cloud-based infrastructure, back-end management for operators, a software development kit (SDK), and an Android-based set-top box that could be custom-branded. The service supported live HD TV, video-on-demand (VOD), catch-up TV, and a TV app market, accessible across multiple devices including TVs, PCs, tablets, and smartphones. Key features included digital rights management (DRM), content transcoding and encryption, and tools for monetization and marketing. The platform also incorporated social features, allowing viewers to interact around content, and a proprietary recommendation engine that analyzed social networks and viewing history to personalize content discovery. In 2022, Vidmind was acquired and subsequently merged into the OnePlusOne Media group.
