About VerticalCompute

Vertical Compute is a Belgian deep-tech semiconductor startup and imec spin-off founded in 2024 by CEO Sylvain Dubois (formerly Google) and CTO Sébastien Couet (formerly imec). Headquartered in Louvain-la-Neuve with R&D sites in Leuven, Grenoble and Nice, the company develops chiplet-based technology that vertically integrates memory and compute to overcome AI’s memory wall. By stacking high-aspect-ratio vertical data lanes directly above compute units, it aims to cut data movement from centimetres to nanometres, improve density, cost and energy versus conventional DRAM approaches, and enable more efficient, privacy-preserving edge AI inference. In January 2025 Vertical Compute closed a €20 million seed round led by imec.xpand with Eurazeo, XAnge, Vector Gestion and imec to build its engineering team and advance commercialization.
