About Vanion
Vanion.eu was a major online platform and community for German-speaking players of the video game *World of Warcraft* (WoW). Founded in 2010 by Patrick “Vanion” Michalczak, it grew to become one of the largest and most influential WoW fan sites in Germany, known for providing timely news, in-depth guides, and detailed information about the game.
The website was the passion project of Michalczak, a well-known streamer and respected expert within the WoW community. Following his unexpected death in 2018 at the age of 39, his business partner, Andreas Scholten, took over operations to continue his legacy. The platform served as a central hub for players, offering everything from patch notes and character guides to forums for community discussion. Its popularity was so significant that fans petitioned for an in-game memorial for its founder.
In August 2021, Andreas Scholten announced that the site would cease updating with new content. The decision was attributed to a declining passion for the game, citing a perceived drop in quality and a disconnect between the developers and the community. While the website remains online as an archive, its active operations have ended, marking the conclusion of an era for a significant portion of the German WoW player base.
