Founded in 2017 by Dean Elwood, Anna Pitt-Stanley, and Alan Charbonneau, Umony provides a communications compliance platform for highly regulated industries. The founding team combines expertise in telecommunications, AI, and large-scale secure data platforms from their previous venture, Voxygen. Umony is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.

The company's mission is to eliminate preventable regulatory fines by offering tools to manage communications compliance. This addresses a significant market need, as over $2 billion in fines have been issued globally in the last two years for communications-related failures. Umony serves over 100 international banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, and major mobile carriers.

Umony's platform is designed to capture, archive, and analyze communications to detect potential misconduct in real-time. The product portfolio consists of three main suites: 'Capture' for collecting data from platforms like WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, and email; 'Archive,' a solution tailored for financial services; and 'Monitor' which uses a proprietary generative AI tool named CODA. CODA provides surveillance with a high red flag detection rate across 47 languages and can be deployed on-premise or in a hosted configuration. To facilitate the transition from legacy systems, Umony offers 'Odyssey,' a dedicated data migration and validation platform.

In September 2025, Umony secured $15 million in a Series A funding round led by Notion Capital, with participation from existing investors SeedCamp and Crane Venture Partners. The capital is intended to expand its engineering and AI research teams, enhance product features, and scale customer acquisition globally.
