Terra Industries

Terrahaptix, also known as Terra Industries, is a Nigerian robotics company founded in 2023 by Nathan Nwachuku and Maxwell Maduka. The young entrepreneurs, both in their early twenties, aim to address the automation gap in emerging markets by manufacturing low-cost unmanned systems for core industries. Nwachuku, a software engineer who dropped out of university at 18, previously founded the edtech platform Klas. Maduka, the Chief Engineer, has a background as a lead drone engineer in the Nigerian Navy and founded a micro-drone company, Spatial Nova, which was later acquired.

The company operates from a 15,000-square-foot robotics factory in Abuja's Idu Industrial District, considered the largest in Africa, with the capacity to produce up to 10,000 units annually. Terrahaptix employs a B2B model, focusing on securing contracts from large corporations in sectors like energy, mining, agriculture, construction, and telecommunications. This "just-in-time-manufacturing" approach, inspired by US defense tech company Anduril, uses contract funds to cover production costs, allowing Terrahaptix to allocate its own capital to research and development. Revenue is generated through hardware sales and recurring annual software subscription fees for its proprietary operating system, Artemis OS.

Terrahaptix's product suite is designed for surveillance and security of critical infrastructure. Their flagship products include the Archer, a long-range VTOL surveillance drone; the Duma, an unmanned ground vehicle for logistics and mobile surveillance; and the Kallon Sentry Tower, a solar-powered surveillance unit that uses AI to detect threats up to 5 kilometers away. These systems are all powered by Artemis OS, an AI-driven command and control platform that provides a unified user experience for threat detection and data analysis. By manufacturing locally and sourcing over 80% of components in Nigeria, the company offers its solutions at a significantly lower cost than global competitors. A significant milestone was a $1.2 million contract secured in May 2025 to deploy drones and sentry towers to protect two hydroelectric power plants in Nigeria.
