Taskey Inc., established in August 2014, operates as a digital intellectual property (IP) and entertainment-focused company based in Tokyo. The firm was founded by Hiromu "Romy" Oishi, who serves as the CEO and is also a novelist. His journey as a creator is central to the company's mission, which was born from his desire to make novels more accessible and engaging for younger generations in the smartphone era. This led to the development of Taskey's core product, the e-story service "peep".

The "peep" application, which has surpassed 4 million downloads, is the primary platform for the company's content. It delivers stories through various formats tailored for mobile consumption, including chat-style novels where the narrative unfolds through dialogue, and "cinema novels" that integrate video and illustrations into the reading experience. This approach specifically targets Z-generation users.

Taskey's business model revolves around the creation and multi-format expansion of original IP. The process begins with developing original novels for the peep app. Successful novels are then adapted into other media, such as monochrome digital comics and full-color, vertical-scrolling comics known as Webtoons, through its internal production house, "taskey STUDIO". This studio structure allows for a streamlined production process, leveraging data and user feedback from peep to increase the success rate of its comic adaptations. The company generates revenue by distributing these manga and Webtoon titles on various external e-book and comic platforms. To accelerate its growth and IP expansion, Taskey has secured significant funding, with a cumulative total of 2.1 billion yen, including a notable investment from the Tencent Group.
