About Symbl

Symbl.ai is a developer-first platform that provides an artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure for understanding natural human conversations. The company was founded in 2018 by former Amdocs colleagues Surbhi Rathore (CEO) and Toshish Jawale (CTO). Initially known as Rammer.AI, the startup graduated from the Techstars Seattle accelerator in 2019. Rathore, an engineering graduate from the University of Pune, was motivated to start the company after recognizing that existing AI technology was not suitable for analyzing the nuances of human-to-human conversations.

The company's business model is centered around a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering. It provides developers with a suite of APIs and low-code tools to process and analyze unstructured conversation data from audio, video, and text formats. Clients, which range from small developers to large enterprises, pay for these services based on usage, including subscription fees and volume-based pricing. The platform's features include real-time speech-to-text transcription, speaker separation, sentiment analysis, and the generation of summaries and action items. Its proprietary Large Language Model (LLM), named Nebula, is specifically trained on conversational data to perform generative tasks and provide deep contextual understanding. This enables clients to build conversation intelligence into their own products for use cases like sales coaching, customer support automation, and compliance monitoring.

In May 2025, Symbl.ai was acquired by Invoca, a revenue execution platform, for an undisclosed amount. Prior to the acquisition, Symbl.ai had raised approximately $28.5 million in total funding. Key funding rounds included a $1.8 million seed round in 2019, a $4.7 million round in 2020 that included investment from Amazon's Alexa Fund, and a $17 million Series A in 2021 led by Great Point Ventures. Following the acquisition, Rathore became Invoca's VP of AI Products and Strategy, while Jawale took on the role of Head of Engineering.
