Standard Metrics

The product works in four steps. For collection, a highly accurate AI agent works together with a managed data services team to ingest performance data, documents and notes and to load historical data and new metrics directly into the platform, while portfolio companies can connect their systems of record and report to several investors at once. For analysis, standard, custom and calculated metrics are structured and traceable back to source documents, and can be reviewed through an AI Analyst and an MCP server using natural-language queries. For reporting, institutional-grade tear sheets, board decks and templates help answer GP and LP questions, with data synced into Excel or exported to other BI tools.

The fourth step is benchmarking, in which a portfolio is compared against an aggregated and anonymised data set of more than 10,000 venture-backed startups. Investors including General Catalyst, Bessemer Venture Partners and Accel are cited by the company as users for partner meetings, portfolio reviews, LP reporting, valuation processes and performance benchmarking, and the site offers customer stories, an MCP cookbook, reports and white papers, and security information.

Standard Metrics sells subscription software to venture capital and private equity firms and offers the reporting side to their portfolio companies, with demos on request. It competes in the investor reporting and portfolio management software market on data quality, AI-assisted collection, benchmarking depth and auditability.
