The company's core business revolves around providing an artificial intelligence-powered platform that adds a real-time operational and reliability layer to existing power grids. This technology analyzes real-time data from grid assets, including inverter-based resources (IBRs), to manage contingencies and optimize energy flow. The system provides enhanced situational awareness, including features like Dynamic Line Rating (DLR), giving operators a clearer picture of the grid's status and near-term forecasts.

Splight's primary clients include power generators, transmission and distribution companies, and Independent System Operators (ISOs). For these clients, the platform's main benefits are reducing the waste of renewable energy, shortening interconnection queue times for new energy projects, and lowering costs for ratepayers by dispatching the most affordable energy. The business model appears to be tiered, starting with a solution for data connectivity and processing, then adding layers for a complete, scalable AI-based operations solution. Having established a commercial presence in Europe, the US, and Latin America, Splight secured $12 million in a seed funding round in July 2024 to support expansion in North America and the EU.
