The company was founded on October 9, 2005, by Shen Leping. Initially a subsidiary of Tomorrow Technology, it became independent in 2014, adopting the Sparkly Key name, which signifies a 'shining key' to open a gate of wonders.

The company utilizes 3D and cartoon rendering technologies to create high-quality, hand-drawn style animations. Its business model encompasses the full animation industry chain, including content creation, derivative products like books and games, and market distribution. Sparkly Key's most notable production is "The Legend of Qin" (Qin Shi Ming Yue), a 3D martial arts animation series adapted from a novel by the late Taiwanese entrepreneur Wen Shiren, who was also the founder of Sparkly Key's former parent company.
