The company's product suite was designed to give IT departments granular control over their environments. Its flagship offerings included S3 Control, a comprehensive change control software that helped reduce IT service disruptions and meet compliance mandates, and S3 Control Embedded, which was tailored for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to secure and control devices running operating systems like Windows. The core technology utilized dynamic whitelisting, which ensures that only pre-approved software and code are allowed to execute on servers, endpoints, and specialized devices. This approach was particularly effective for securing fixed-function devices such as ATMs, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and industrial control systems.

Solidcore Systems served a diverse client base across various sectors, including over 100 financial institutions and 15,000 retail stores globally. Its revenue was generated through the sale and licensing of its software products to these enterprise clients. After raising approximately $45.3 million in funding over four rounds, the company reached a significant milestone. On May 15, 2009, McAfee announced its acquisition of Solidcore Systems for an initial $33 million in cash, a deal that integrated Solidcore's whitelisting and compliance enforcement technology into McAfee's product portfolio. Following the acquisition, the Solidcore team was incorporated into McAfee's Risk and Compliance business unit.
