SeSocio.com
Latin American cryptocurrency and digital investment platform
About SeSocio.com
SeSocio.com was an Argentinian financial technology company that operated as a marketplace for personal investments, specializing in cryptocurrencies. Founded in 2017 by Guido Quaranta and Gastón Krasny, the platform initially focused on crowdfunding for entrepreneurial projects before pivoting to the crypto market. The company provided a personal finance application allowing users to purchase, hold, and manage various investments, supporting over 45 cryptocurrencies.
The platform aimed to democratize finance for individuals in Latin America, particularly targeting unbanked and underbanked populations by providing access to crypto-enabled financial services. It operated in several countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico. SeSocio's business model included a trading platform where users could buy and sell stakes in projects and loan portfolios, generating liquidity for investors. The company charged commissions on early project withdrawals through its trading feature and on fund withdrawals from the platform.
In a significant milestone, SeSocio.com was acquired by Blockchain.com in November 2021 for approximately $100-120 million, marking Blockchain.com's largest acquisition to date and a strategic move to expand its presence in Latin America. Following the acquisition, SeSocio's team of over 100 employees was integrated into Blockchain.com. However, in July 2022, approximately eight months after the acquisition, Blockchain.com announced the deactivation of the SeSocio.com platform as of August 1, 2022. Users were instructed to transfer their assets to a Blockchain.com account or another platform of their choice.
