Sentryo

Sentryo was a cybersecurity company founded in 2014 by Laurent Hausermann and Thierry Rouquet, located in Lyon, France. The founders leveraged their backgrounds in telecommunications and network security to address the growing need for cybersecurity solutions within industrial environments.

Sentryo specialized in developing solutions for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) networks. The company provided a platform designed to give organizations visibility into their industrial assets and networks, which are often complex and heterogeneous. Its main product, ICS CyberVision, enabled automated device discovery and inventory, continuous network monitoring, and anomaly detection. The system would map all industrial assets, identify vulnerabilities, and detect suspicious behavior in real-time to prevent cyberattacks that could disrupt critical infrastructure and manufacturing processes. The business model was centered on selling this software platform to clients in sectors such as energy, manufacturing, and transportation.

In June 2019, Cisco announced its intent to acquire Sentryo. The acquisition was completed later that year, integrating Sentryo's technology into Cisco's IoT portfolio. This move was aimed at strengthening Cisco's offerings for industrial IoT (IIoT) security, combining Sentryo's deep visibility into OT networks with Cisco's broader network security architecture. Following the acquisition, the Sentryo team and its technology were absorbed into Cisco's IoT business unit.
