About Saigon STEC

Saigon STEC, established on September 10, 2007, is a Vietnamese manufacturer specializing in electronic components, with a primary focus on high-tech camera modules. The company was originally founded as a joint venture and wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan's Sharp Takaya Electronic Industry Co., Ltd. to leverage Vietnam's cost competitiveness. Its factory is located in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park II in Binh Duong Province.

Historically, the firm has operated as a key part of the supply chain for major electronics corporations. In April 2018, Sharp Corporation acquired a 51% majority stake, making Saigon STEC a subsidiary to enhance cost competitiveness in the expanding camera module market for smartphones and tablets. However, this acquisition was later canceled. As of January 2025, Sharp Takaya Electronic Industry agreed to transfer its remaining 49% stake to Fullertain Information Technologies Limited, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn), which had acquired Sharp's 51% stake in late 2024. This positions the company under the ownership of Foxconn.

The company's business model is centered on manufacturing and exporting its products. It imports materials from countries like China, Japan, and South Korea, and exports finished products primarily to related companies within its parent group's network for global distribution. The business serves the international market for electronic components used in devices such as smartphones and tablets. Saigon STEC's facility has undergone multiple expansion phases to scale its production capabilities.
