Sage Group
Providing businesses with on-premises and cloud-based business management software and services.
About Sage Group
In 1981, Sage Group was founded in Newcastle-upon-Tyne by three visionary entrepreneurs: David Goldman, Graham Wylie, and Paul Muller. The trio embarked on a mission to simplify accounting for small businesses, a task that was often cumbersome and complex. Graham Wylie, a skilled programmer, developed the initial Sage accounts package, which quickly gained traction among local businesses.
As the demand for their software grew, Sage Group expanded its offerings and began to capture a larger share of the market. The company's growth was fueled by a strategic approach that included an aggressive program of acquisitions, allowing Sage to broaden its product range and enter new markets.
In 1989, Sage Group went public on the London Stock Exchange, marking a significant milestone in its journey. This move not only provided the company with the capital needed to accelerate its expansion but also solidified its reputation as a leader in the enterprise software industry.
Over the years, Sage Group continued to innovate and adapt to the changing technological landscape. By focusing on the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, Sage established itself as a trusted partner for businesses around the world. Today, Sage Group stands as one of the largest software companies in the UK, renowned for its commitment to helping businesses streamline their operations and achieve success.
