Roborock, formally Beijing Roborock Technology Co., Ltd., was established in July 2014 by its founder and CEO, Richard Chang. Chang's background includes a tenure as a product manager at Baidu and experience at a mapping company, which provided a solid foundation for developing the company's core navigation technology. The company specializes in the research, development, and production of robotic home cleaning devices and other smart cleaning appliances.

From a financial perspective, Roborock has demonstrated a robust growth trajectory. The company secured investment from prominent entities, including a Series A from Xiaomi, becoming a part of the Xiaomi ecological chain shortly after its inception. This strategic partnership was pivotal in its early stages. A significant milestone was achieved in February 2020 when the company was listed on the STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, raising approximately $641 million USD. The company's market capitalization has seen substantial figures, reflecting strong investor confidence. Roborock's business model is centered on the direct sale of its smart hardware to consumers. For instance, the Roborock S7 introduced a sonic mopping system that vibrates at high frequency to scrub floors and a feature that automatically lifts the mop when carpet is detected. The S8 series further refined this with a dual-roller brush system and an enhanced obstacle avoidance system. The company generates revenue through the global sale of these devices, with a strong presence in markets across Europe, North America, and Asia.
