Rime was founded in 2022 by CEO Lily Clifford, whose PhD work at Stanford was in linguistics, PhD linguist Brooke Larson, formerly of Amazon Alexa, and Stanford-trained engineer Ares Geovanis; Rafael Valle, formerly an audio researcher at Meta's Superintelligence Lab, joined as Chief Science Officer. On 15 July 2026 Rime announced a $24 million Series A led by M13 with Twilio Ventures and Corazon Capital and continued participation from Unusual Ventures; Morgan Blumberg of M13 joined the board.
