The founding combined Twigg's 15 years of experience in the investment industry, including as Head of Strategy at Aberdeen Standard Investments, with Professor Birch's world-leading expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP). Aveni's core offering is its Unified Assurance Platform, which uses proprietary AI and specialized language models (FinLLM) trained on UK financial services data. This platform is designed to analyze customer interactions from calls and meetings to automate administrative tasks, monitor for compliance, and manage risk. The company serves clients such as banks, wealth managers, and financial advisers in the UK, including major institutions like Lloyds Banking Group and Nationwide, which are also investors. Its business model centers on providing software that boosts productivity and ensures regulatory adherence, for example with the UK's Consumer Duty rules.

The product suite includes Aveni Assist, an AI assistant for advisers that automates tasks like generating suitability reports, updating CRM systems, and summarizing meetings to reduce administrative workload. Aveni Detect is a compliance monitoring tool that provides 100% oversight of interactions to identify risks and ensure quality assurance. Responding to the rise of AI agents in customer service, Aveni has also launched Agent Assure and Agent Approve to help firms assess the conduct risk of AI agents, ensuring consistent outcomes whether the interaction is with a human or a machine.
