Reva Systems
Reva Systems develops RFID network infrastructure products that enable customers to rapidly deploy scalable solutions in any environment
About Reva Systems
Reva Systems, established in 2003, specialized in the development and provision of radio-frequency identification (RFID) network infrastructure. The company was co-founded by Ashley Stephenson, who served as the executive chairman. Reva Systems focused on applying network principles, similar to those used in LANs and SANs, to integrate RFID operations with existing enterprise IT infrastructures.
The core of Reva's business was its flagship product, the Tag Acquisition Processor (TAP). This network appliance was engineered to interface with RFID readers and edge devices, processing raw tag data and making it accessible and actionable for enterprise systems. The TAP system was designed to enable rapid, manageable, and scalable deployment of RFID solutions across various environments. The product line included different models to support installations of varying complexity, from sites with a few readers to large-scale deployments with hundreds. To manage these deployments, the company offered the Reva Management System (RMS), a suite that included tools for multi-site management and configuration from a central location.
Reva Systems served a diverse client base across numerous industries, including healthcare, retail, logistics, aerospace, and manufacturing. In the healthcare sector, for instance, its technology was utilized for real-time location system (RTLS) solutions to track assets and personnel using passive UHF RFID. The business model centered on selling these hardware appliances (TAPs) and management software to enterprises looking to implement or scale their RFID capabilities. The company received funding from investors such as Charles River Ventures and North Bridge Venture Partners. In December 2010, Reva Systems was acquired by ODIN, an integration and software firm, which incorporated Reva's TAP products into its own offerings under the new name EasyTAP.
