However, the company's journey as an independent entity was short-lived. In December 2021, Twitter (now X) acquired Quill for an undisclosed amount. Following the acquisition, the Quill application was shut down on December 11, 2021, and the team was integrated into Twitter to work on improving its direct messaging capabilities.
