Based in Bengaluru, India, QpiAI was established in 2019 by Dr. Nagendra Nagaraja, a quantum physicist and seasoned executive with over two decades of experience at technology firms like Nvidia and Qualcomm. Dr. Nagaraja, who holds a Ph.D. in Wireless, ML, and AI and has over 30 granted patents, founded the company to merge AI and quantum computing to address complex industrial problems.

QpiAI operates on a vertically integrated model, developing a full stack of quantum and AI solutions, from hardware and software to cloud-based platforms. The company's business model encompasses Software as a Service (SaaS), software licensing, and technology solutions contracts, serving a B2B and B2C client base primarily in India and Europe. Its enterprise clients span a wide range of sectors, including life sciences, finance, manufacturing, logistics, materials science, and drug discovery. QpiAI offers several software platforms, such as QpiAI-pro, a no-code GenAI and MLOps platform, and QpiAI-pharma for computational drug discovery.

The firm's flagship hardware product is the QpiAI Gen-1, a 25-qubit superconducting quantum computer unveiled in April 2025, marking a significant milestone as India's first full-stack quantum system. This system is designed for seamless integration with existing high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructures and is accessible via the cloud. The company has an ambitious roadmap, aiming to scale its technology to a 64-qubit machine by late 2026 and ultimately to 1,000 physical qubits (and 100 logical qubits) by 2030. The company has secured significant funding to fuel this growth, including a $6.5 million pre-Series A round in June 2024 and a $32 million Series A round in July 2025, co-led by Avataar Ventures and India's National Quantum Mission.
