PlatformE is a technology company focused on reducing overproduction and waste in the fashion industry through its on-demand manufacturing platform. Founded in 2015 by Ben Demiri and Gonçalo Cruz, the company provides a B2B technology stack that enables fashion brands to shift from mass production to a more sustainable made-to-order model. The initial concept grew from a tool called MySwear, which customized sneakers, and evolved into a broader platform for the entire industry after demonstrating its potential. Key early investors include José Neves, the founder of Farfetch, and Natalie Massenet, the founder of Net-A-Porter. Co-founder and CEO Gonçalo Cruz has a background in industrial engineering, logistics, and digital ventures, including roles at Accenture and Groupon, which informed the platform's focus on integrating the complex fashion supply chain. The company operates on a platform business model, creating value by facilitating direct interaction and data flow between brands, retailers, and manufacturers. This model enables clients to sell items before they are produced, thereby eliminating dead stock and increasing sales at full price. PlatformE serves major luxury groups like LVMH and Kering, with clients that have included Dior, Gucci, and Fendi. The company's core offerings include PlatformE Custom and PlatformE RealTime. PlatformE Custom is a data orchestration system that manages personalized orders using hyper-realistic 3D digital twins of products, allowing for detailed customization by consumers. This system streamlines the entire made-to-order process, from the point of sale to the factory floor, ensuring the exact specifications are sent for production. PlatformE RealTime is a multi-side software designed to optimize the product development cycle and accelerate speed-to-market. To further enhance its supply chain capabilities, PlatformE acquired Springkode in 2021 to better connect brands with digitally-ready manufacturers. The company has also expanded its reach into the digital realm by launching SKINVADERS, a platform for in-game branded skins and assets for the metaverse.
