The core of Oxford VR's business is the creation of automated, evidence-based digital treatments using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) principles within immersive VR environments. These programs are designed to be guided by a virtual coach, allowing them to be administered by a range of healthcare staff and increasing patient access to care. The company's business model targets healthcare providers, such as the UK's National Health Service (NHS) and other mental healthcare organizations, offering a cost-effective and scalable solution to traditional therapy. Clients include entities like the NHS, AXA, and Universal Health Services.

One of the company's notable products is an automated VR treatment for the fear of heights, which demonstrated significant clinical benefits in trials published in The Lancet Psychiatry. Another key product, gameChange, is a VR therapy designed for patients with psychosis, which helps them overcome anxious social avoidance. This product received Breakthrough Device designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The therapies place users in simulations of environments that trigger their symptoms, such as a crowded train or a high-rise building, where they receive live coaching to process their conditions in a safe space. In late 2022, Oxford VR merged with the U.S.-based company BehaVR to expand its reach and capabilities, particularly in the United States, operating under the BehaVR brand.
