About MountainView Capital Holdings
In 2007, as the residential mortgage market began to show signs of significant distress, Michael Morgan and Chris Rooker saw an opportunity. They established MountainView Capital Holdings, a firm designed to navigate the complexities of the secondary mortgage market. The company focused on providing analytics, brokerage, and advisory services for residential mortgage assets. The timing was critical. With the market in turmoil, MountainView secured a significant $65 million in equity capital from backers including Union Square Partners and CLAC Industries, alongside its own management. This funding was earmarked to purchase pools of residential mortgage products, from performing loans to non-performing assets, allowing the firm to capitalize on the market disruption. The company provides services focused on whole loan sales, trading, and brokerage of mortgage servicing rights. A key event in the company's journey occurred in August 2010. In the aftermath of the financial crisis, MountainView acquired Capmark Securities, the securities division of the bankrupt lender Capmark Financial Group. This acquisition significantly broadened MountainView's capabilities, particularly in hedging risk in the mortgage pipeline and trading fixed-income securities. The newly acquired division was rebranded as MountainView Securities, solidifying the firm's position as a comprehensive service provider in the fixed-income capital markets.
