About MicroLub

MicroLub is a University of Leeds food-tech spinout that develops patented protein-and-water microgel ingredients which mimic fat’s lubricity and mouthfeel so manufacturers can cut fat and calories by up to about 75% while improving protein content and clean labels. Founded by Professor Anwesha Sarkar (CTO) with CEO David Peters (ex-Oatly UK), it works B2B with large food and ingredient companies from lab scale through industrial manufacturing at Nexus Leeds. After a £3.5 million Northern Gritstone-led seed in late 2024 (with LIFTT and Praetura), MicroLub raised $10 million (~€8.7M) in September 2026 again led by Northern Gritstone with NPIF II–PXN Equity Finance to commercialise, grow the team and expand in the US and Asia.
