Lunar Outpost is a private aerospace company focused on space robotics, lunar surface mobility, and in-situ resource utilization. Founded in 2017 by Justin Cyrus, Julian Cyrus, AJ Gemer, and Forrest Meyen, the company is headquartered in Golden, Colorado, with additional offices in Luxembourg and Australia. The founding team combines expertise in engineering, space resources, and aeronautics, with backgrounds from institutions like the Colorado School of Mines and MIT, and experience on projects such as the Mars Oxygen ISRU Experiment (MOXIE).

The company develops robotic systems for both space and terrestrial applications. Its flagship product is the Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform (MAPP), a series of autonomous lunar rovers designed to provide mobility as a service on the Moon. The LTV is also designed for commercial use, supporting payload delivery and infrastructure deployment during non-Artemis periods. The company has multiple lunar missions scheduled. Its first mission, Lunar Voyage 1, launched in early 2025, marked the first commercial rover to land on another planetary body. Beyond its space ventures, Lunar Outpost has developed technologies with terrestrial applications. The 'Canary' environmental monitoring system, originally designed as the 'Space Canary' to detect harmful lunar dust in astronaut habitats, has been adapted for Earth-based use. The solar-powered Canary-S and other variants are used for air quality monitoring in various sectors, including by the U.S. Forest Service and in the oil and gas industry, to detect pollutants like particulate matter and carbon monoxide. The company has received over $23.6 million in funding across several rounds, including a Series A round, to scale its technology and support its various projects.
