Itera, Inc. is a San Francisco deep-tech company founded by CEO AJ Cooper with co-founders Mattis Fjällström and Alex Withrow that builds reconfigurable fluid circuit boards so electronics engineers can prototype and iterate hardware at software speed. Its patented architecture uses electrowetting to move liquid-metal alloys on a glass substrate, forming rewirable traces that can be physically reconfigured in under a minute while running real components with real electrical behaviour—cutting traditional PCB fab-and-assemble loops that often take weeks and dominate early hardware budgets. Customers interact via an Electronics-as-a-Service model: designs are assembled on multilayer substrates at secure U.S. testing centers, and when an engineer changes routing Itera reconfigures the liquid-metal traces and remounts real parts rather than ordering a new board. Emerging from stealth in May 2026, Itera said its first glass and liquid-metal production run was already reserved by a top-five global automotive OEM and defence primes, with interest from a leading hyperscaler and multiple chipset makers. The same announcement disclosed a $12 million seed from Upfront Ventures, Costanoa Ventures and Colle Capital to launch the first product and bring it to market.
