Helping healthcare clients make better, more insightful decisions and discover breakthroughs using human data science
About IQVIA
IQVIA (NYSE: IQV) is a leading global provider of advanced analytics, technology solutions, and clinical research services for the life sciences industry. The company’s origins trace back to 1974, when biostatistics professor Dennis Gillings began consulting for pharmaceutical companies—work that inspired the 1982 founding of Quintiles, a pioneering contract research organization (CRO) focused on making clinical trials faster and more efficient. Over the following decades, Quintiles expanded across all phases of clinical research, went public in 1997, and grew through global acquisitions to become the world’s largest CRO. After a period of private ownership and restructuring, the company returned to the public markets in a major 2013 IPO.
A transformational milestone came in 2016, when Quintiles merged with IMS Health, a leader in healthcare data and analytics. The combined $18 billion entity—renamed IQVIA—integrated deep clinical trial expertise with vast data resources and advanced technology capabilities. Today, IQVIA’s Connected Intelligence™ platform creates intelligent links across the healthcare ecosystem, delivering rapid, privacy-protected insights that help clients accelerate the development and commercialization of innovative medical treatments.
With approximately 86,000 employees in more than 100 countries, IQVIA serves pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies, as well as researchers, governments, payers, and other healthcare stakeholders. By harnessing big data, advanced analytics, and technology-driven research solutions, IQVIA enables a deeper understanding of diseases, human behavior, and scientific advancement—ultimately helping improve health outcomes and advance the path toward cures.
