Inui Health, formerly known as Scanadu, operated in the consumer medical diagnostics sector with a focus on at-home testing. The company was founded in February 2011 by Walter De Brouwer and Misha Chellam. Initially, Inui Health garnered significant attention with a highly successful Indiegogo campaign in 2013, raising over $1.6 million for its "Scout" device, a portable scanner intended to measure various physiological parameters.

The company's strategic focus later pivoted to a smartphone-enabled, in-home urine analysis platform. This system was designed for consumers to monitor their health, screen for conditions like urinary tract infections (UTIs), and manage issues related to kidney function and metabolic disorders. The product offering consisted of a disposable test kit and a companion smartphone application for both iOS and Android. Upon dipping the test strip, the user would utilize the phone's camera to scan it, and the app would provide medical-grade results for protein, glucose, leukocytes, nitrites, and ketones. This platform received 510(k) clearance and a CLIA waiver from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2018, a significant milestone that validated its use for consumers.

The business model centered on selling these testing kits directly to consumers through its website, with services planned around data aggregation and offering enterprise solutions for remote patient monitoring in clinical trials. After raising a total of approximately $50 million from venture capital investors including Tencent Holdings, Fosun Pharma, and Relay Ventures, the company's trajectory culminated in an acquisition. In June 2020, Inui Health was acquired by its Israeli competitor, Healthy.io, for approximately $9 million in a cash deal structured around specific milestones. This transaction led to the integration of Inui Health's intellectual property and its CEO, Dr. Jaime Tenedorio, into the Healthy.io team to accelerate the latter's expansion in the U.S. market.
