About Intio

Intio, Inc. operated in the interventional oncology software market, positioning itself as a developer of specialized image analysis tools for cancer treatment. Founded in 2005 and formerly known as Abla-Tx, the company was based in the Denver area of Colorado. Intio focused on creating software algorithms to assist physicians in planning, guiding, and analyzing various oncologic therapies. These included minimally invasive procedures such as surgery, ablation, chemoembolization, and radioembolization, as well as palliative treatments for pain or obstructions.

The company's core offering was the ClearStart SVM™ system, a desktop workstation for image analysis. This product provided physicians with semi-automated tools to segment, or outline, cancerous lesions in the liver, lung, and lymph nodes from CT scan images. Once a lesion was segmented, the software automatically performed volumetric and other measurements, such as those compliant with RECIST and WHO criteria, to help track a patient's response to therapy over time. A key milestone for the company was receiving FDA 510(k) clearance for the ClearStart SVM™ system in December 2011, which allowed it to be marketed in the United States. This clearance positioned the product as a tool for diagnostic oncologic imaging, treatment planning, and post-procedure assessment.

From a financial perspective, Intio secured funding from institutional investors. The company raised a total of $4.84 million over two Series A rounds, with investments from firms including Flagship Pioneering and Sequel Venture Partners. The initial Series A round on September 7, 2010, brought in $4.09 million, followed by an additional $750,000 on July 16, 2012. Despite these developments, the company is now considered deadpooled and is no longer in operation.
